To deduct a discount and cash discount from a total amount, you first need to calculate the discount amount based on the percentage or value provided. Subtract the discount amount from the total amount to get the discounted total. If there is a cash discount, deduct that amount from the discounted total to get the final amount payable. Make sure to follow the specific instructions or terms provided for the discounts to ensure accurate deductions. **

Cash discount is granted first, followed by trade discount. This means that the cash discount is applied to the invoice amount first, and then the trade discount is applied to the remaining balance. This order is important because the cash discount is typically given for early payment, while the trade discount is a reduction in the list price of the goods or services being sold. **

You deduct discount from the total amount of the purchase before taxes. Then, you deduct the account from the discounted total to arrive at the final amount to be paid.
